Three sentenced to death by hanging for robbing car owner in Ekiti

  An Ekiti State High Court, Ado Ekiti Division, has sentenced three people to death by hanging for robbing a man of his car at gunpoint.  The defendants, Akingbade David, Michael Mayowa and Ibrahim Mukaila, were charged with armed robbery and conspiracy. They were arrested and charged to court for robbing one Gbenga Ajayi of his Toyota Corolla car at gunpoint on March 1, 2019, at NTA Road, Ado Ekiti.  An Assistant Chief Legal Officer, O.F Ajumobi, who prosecuted the case for Ekiti State, said, "The offences of Conspiracy and Armed Robbery are contrary to Section 6(b)of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap.R11, Vol.14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004." Shocking moment man fell through train gap and onto tracks

  This is the shocking moment a man is seen on the ground between the train and the platform after falling through a gap in the train.  A rescue mission was launched at Sittingbourne station in Kent around 4pm on June 18.  The footage shows four officials peering down the gap, seemingly calling for help while instructing bystanders to keep their distance.     The person who filmed the incident said: "I was sitting at the train station when I heard all this commotion. People all started crowding around, I took a closer look and could see a bloke down the side of the train." He further described the scene adding: "He looked like he wasn't moving and he wasn't making any noise and I could see blood coming out of his head."     It remains unclear how the man ended up in such a precarious position, but he was eventually helped back onto the platform and was conscious at the time. Nigeria Court sets aside repealed law used for the reinstatement of Sanusi

  Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman of a Federal High Court in Kano has set aside the Kano State Emirate Law 2024, which dissolved the five Emirates in Kano State In a ruling delivered today June 20, the judge dismissed all steps taken by the Kano State Government to repeal the Kano Emirates Council Law relied upon by the state to dethrone the 15th Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero and four others. The judge also set aside the action of Kano government, ordering parties to maintain status quo. Recall that the Kano House of Assembly had repealed the law enthroning the 15th Emir and establishment of additional four emirate councils – Bichi, Rano Karaye and Gaya, by the immediate past governor of the state, Dr, Abdullahi Ganduje.
