Swedish and Finnish activists vandalized the Finnish Parliament Building in Helsinki on September 25, 2024. The activists, who were from the Elokapina climate activist group and the Swedish wetland conservation group Återställ Våtmarker, used fire extinguishers and red paint to deface the building .
The activists were protesting the Finnish government's decision to expand peat production in Sweden, despite receiving €450 million from the EU to cut peat production . The incident occurred around 08:00 on Wednesday morning, and the police arrested ten activists for aggravated damage, which can lead to up to four years in prison
