At approximately 10:00 PM on Monday, March 24, 2025, Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (BHT/ISWAP) terrorists launched a coordinated assault on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in the Wajiroko area of Borno State, Nigeria. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least three Nigerian soldiers and injuries to several others, including the Brigade Commander.
According to a military communication obtained by Dalena Reporters, the full extent of the attack remains under investigation. Surveillance reports indicated visible fires around the base and observed numerous soldiers retreating toward Sabongari, suggesting that the FOB may have been overrun by insurgents.
Efforts to reinforce the base were hindered when the initial reinforcement team encountered an improvised explosive device (IED) along the main supply route. A subsequent team, led by Brigadier General UF Abubakar, also faced an IED explosion between Damboa and Azir Bridge, resulting in additional casualties.
The Nigerian military has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident. However, sources indicate that reinforcement efforts are ongoing, and troops remain on high alert as they assess the security situation in the area.
