Former Probation Officer Charged in Acid Attack Plot Against Ex-Partner

A 34-year-old mother of two and former probation officer from Plymouth has been charged in connection with a violent acid attack targeting her ex-boyfriend, personal trainer Danny Cahalane. Allegedly conspiring with an organized crime group, she is accused of plotting to kidnap and murder Cahalane, who suffered serious injuries after sulphuric acid was thrown at him in his home while his daughter was present.

The woman, who had previously worked closely with prisoners in rehabilitation roles, including literacy programs at Dartmoor Prison, now faces serious criminal charges including conspiracy to murder, conspiracy to kidnap, and participation in organized crime. She has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Plymouth Crown Court on May 12. Seven other individuals have been charged in connection with the case, some also facing drug-related charges.

Devon and Cornwall Police report that Cahalane remains hospitalized but has been relocated for safety. The case has shocked those who knew the woman due to her former trusted position working within the justice system.
