Tragedy in Plateau State: Fulani Terrorist Killed More Than 40 in Midnight Attack on Zurak Community

In a devastating overnight assault, gunmen attacked Zurak village in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria, resulting in the deaths of at least Over 40 residents. The assailants, reportedly arriving on motorcycles and armed with sophisticated weapons, launched the attack around 5 p.m. on Monday, causing widespread panic and forcing survivors to flee to neighboring communities for safety.

Sahpi’i Sambo, a local youth leader, confirmed the incident, expressing concern over the delayed response from security personnel. “As of yesterday, security personnel had not yet arrived at the community. It was deadly,” he stated.

This attack adds to the series of violent incidents plaguing Plateau State, where communities have been under siege by bandits, leading to loss of lives and displacement of residents. In December, a two-day assault left about 150 dead and hundreds displaced, highlighting the escalating insecurity in the region.

Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the latest incident, but investigations are reportedly underway. The community remains in mourning as they grapple with the aftermath of this tragic event.
